Shrove TuesdayShrove Tuesday is also called Pancake Tuesday or Pancake Day and it is celebrated just before Ash Wednesday which is the first day of Lent. On that day people fry pancakes, organise pancake races.
It is similar to Polish Fat Thursday but we celebrate it a bit earlier and instead of pancakes we eat lots of doughnuts. |
Our celebrationWe wanted to introduce some new vocabulary therefore we prepared colourful sheets of paper with various words which we hung them on the walls for students to look at.
We prepared some information about Shrove Tuesday and Lent. We copied short sentences on the A4 paper and we rolled them. Then we put them in different places on the school corridor. The students looked for and read the information and then took part in a quiz. At home we prepared pancakes and used a microwave to heat them up at school. We had tossing pancakes game too. |
